This is me hearing my partner.
Did I ever tell you about my first job?
It's actually where Albert and I met.
It was this little Italian restaurant in Somerville.
I was 16.
Started off as a dishwasher.
I'd help the cooks with whatever they needed --
uh, peeling potatoes, chopping onions.
I'd come in early, stay late, and...
You know what?
I think I just wanted to get out of the house...
after everything that happened.
So, every day before our shift,
we'd have a family meal.
They'd cook this massive feast
from whatever was left over from the day before,
然后 我们 我们把这些桌子拖到一起
- and we'd -- we'd drag these tables together.
They would make this horrible screeching sound.
But to me, that sound was everything
because for 25 minutes, every day,
this random group of misfits and nomads
would sit together and share a meal.
For that 25 minutes, they were my family.
From your buddy up front.
If you're gonna cook in the dark, you might as well do it right.
What is that?
Hey, she's back. Mm-hmm.
Oh, if I could, I'd take back
all the harm I caused this past year,
but not you, Charlotte.
You are the one good thing to come out of it.
You know, I would've settled for just a sandwich.
Hmm. I wouldn't have.
You know, call your crew.
There's more where that came from. Oh.
Well, in that case, you'll still need this.
Have you seen Maggie?
I thought she might come here to talk to you.
不啊 为什么 一切都好吗
No. Why? Is everything okay?
Oh, welcome back, stranger.
Quick update --
we filed an extension on the Madigan case,
I lost eight pounds, uh, the new temp is super cute,
- but straight -- for now --
and did I mention I lost eight pounds?
对啊 你减了8磅 那很好啊
Yeah, you lost eight pounds. That's great.
But I gained five of them back from the stress of it all.
I was worried about you.
Where have you been?
女人 求你了 你什么时候没有向我倾诉过
Woman, please, when have you ever not confided in me?
- 来吧 - 这应该会好些
Come on. This should be good.
...only to discover
that she didn't even take her phone.
So, I have no idea where she is,
no way to get ahold of her,
even if she did want to talk to me, and --
Patricia keeps texting her.
It's not gonna happen, Trish.
I just don't understand
how she could do all of this to her own daughter.
That's exactly what I'm doing to Sophie and Danny.
unless you've secretly harvested Danny's organs,
I don't think it is.
Alright, look, I'll tell you this --
as a mom, the moment your kids are born,
you're just hard-wired to protect them.
Not my mother.
She never protected anything, except maybe her SAG card.
I'm not saying that what she did is right,
I just understand how in that moment...
she just didn't want Maggie to know
her brother had suffered.
You know, uh...
- you -- you have to know the last thing I wanted
was to come between you and your family.
Well, if it makes you feel any better,
- 我们已经有很长一段时间不和了 - 不错
- we have been dysfunctional for quite some time. - Oh, good.
After Chad died, um...
we were never really the same.
My mom, she was, um...
she was stuck.
She...kept his room exactly how it was,
like a shrine...
and she just kind of walled herself off from everyone...
Uh, Gary, wh-- what are you doing here?
Well, I got your message.
Uh -- Technically, Maggie's message.
So, she hasn't seen any of my texts?
Come in, come in.
It's probably for the best.
I don't think she wants to talk to you.
Or me, or...
anyone, for that matter.
Not for nothing.
She kind of got a bomb dropped on her
over bagels, so...
What have I done?
所有人都讨厌我 我丈夫 我女儿
everybody hates me -- my husband, my daughter.
what you and Eugene went through --
losing a child --
I cannot imagine.
I do get that it brings you comfort
knowing that some part of Chad is still alive.
But your husband...
...he's not wrong.
Eric is not your son,
and all of this --
is it really worth losing your family?
What if it's too late?
Well, there's only one way to find out.
Pick up the phone, Patricia.
